Yes, wool is suitable for every season. It helps keep your baby warm when it’s cold and wicks away moisture when it gets warmer. This helps wool keep your baby comfortable all year round. Always adjust your baby’s clothing layers to the temperature and your baby’s needs.

What types of wool do we use?

We work with soft, warm wool in a range of textures and qualities.

Felted, also known as felted wool, is a soft, dense, natural wool fabric that feels wonderfully warm. Thumbled has a full, woolly, cuddly-soft texture. Our Teddy wool is also soft and woolly, but has more fluidity and stretch, making the fabric extra flexible and comfortable. We also use knitted wool made from Italian merino wool, known for its exceptional softness, fine texture, and comfortable feel.

Is it necessary to wash wool before using it for the first time?

You don’t need to wash a Woolskins product before using it for the first time. Thanks to naturally occurring lanolin, wool has self-cleaning and antibacterial properties that you’ll want to preserve for as long as possible. Usually, simply airing it outside is enough. What’s more, all our products are hygienically processed and carefully inspected during production, so you can use them right away with complete peace of mind.

How warm is wool, and does it have a TOG rating?

Wool is a natural, breathable material that adapts to the conditions. It helps keep your baby warm when it’s cold and wicks away moisture when your baby gets warm. Unlike many synthetic materials, a TOG rating doesn’t tell you everything about comfort when it comes to wool. Warmth also depends on the wool’s structure, air circulation, and the conditions in which you use the product.
